After a great vacation at the beach in Playa del Carmen, on the Caribean coast, we got back on our bikes to cycle 3500 kms (2100 miles) across Mexico, to Mazatlan, and from there on by boat to La Paz on the Baja California Peninsula. Then followed 1500 kms (900 miles) of desert on Baja.

Well, what shall we say about Baja? We had read and heard a lot about Baja California. Most cyclists loved it there, some really didn’t like it. So we didn’t really know what to expect, but we did know that there would be a lot of desert. And there was. And a lot of (head)wind. Continue reading →

After we had passed Mexico City, we continued to the city of Morelia. We cycled through forests and mountains where we could smell the great scent of pinetrees again. Again, a lot of climbing but the scenery made up for a lot of it. Continue reading →

La Paz/ Copacabana

We took the bus from Cochabamba to La Paz. It was a long way of which the first part very hard because of long climbs and the last part boring. And that information was right. From Cochabamba on the climb seemed never ending and the last part was indeed boring.
