We were forced to travel the rest of the country by bus so we only went to the touristy towns of the country.<!--more--> We\u2019re sorry we weren\u2019t able to see more of the country, because we would have liked to get to know it better.<\/p>\n<p>Especially in the mountains, at Lake Atitlan, we had the impression of being back in Bolivia and Peru. The markets like they have over there were back and the women (and some of the men) were wearing traditional clothing.<\/p>\n<p>It also was very touristy in the lake area, it\u2019s a real backpacker destination. The lake itself is nicely situated between the surrounding mountains. It\u2019s said that it\u2019s the most beautiful lake in the world, but we can\u2019t and don\u2019t want to agree with that. Yes, it\u2019s beautiful over there but there are so many beautiful places and lakes in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Antigua was a nice town with some nice, colorful buildings. Flores was very small and touristy and Tikal was mysterious.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the country we saw from the bus. It was very mountainous and hilly, there were no flat parts.
